INTERESTING READ

Postby SwanseaJack on Tue Feb 09, 2010 3:44 am

im a swansea city fan always have been..of course nearly every welsh football fan in south wales cant have failed to have noticed the success so far of newport county..and so i thought i would do a little bit of reasearch online, seens as im working a very long night shift as a security guard and just get to sit on my backside most of the night..
anyway after reading the article on wikipedia of which the link ive posted below i was shocked to see the facts history and troubles/bad times you guys have been through with your beloved club..your not just some regular southern lower league club (excuse my ignorance)..
it's rather interesting to read that no on else in the conference south has played in the football league apart from newport..
im 25 years of age and for people in my age group this seems to be exciting times for newport county.but i would imagine fellas of my old mans age group just want to see their club progress to where they once were??i dont know, nevertheless exciting times all round..
i have looked at the remaining fixtures and would like to get myself down to newport to catch one soon..but will have to choose one due to long work hours and lack of funds situation.perhaps braintree 27th march to watch you guys snatch promotion??

i could go on about other interesting bits ive read but cant be botherd because i should be talking of the future..
you are on an impressive run...and you've got my support all the way,
lets hope you can steam through the next few games to get it mathematically squared away, even though i understand you have some tough fixtures coming up..
and then lets enjoy the summer..the world cup..ice cream..few hundred beers..ladies in summer dresses..oh and hopefully celebrating the swans promoted to the premier league to show the likes of rooney, drogba, arshavin how real football is meant to be played!!

GOOD LUCK
ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!!!

Nice post, Jack. Be careful though. If you come to watch the Braintree game on 27th March, you'll be a month late.
My in-laws used to live in Swansea and I had a spell when I watched them quite often, so I always watch for their result. Having a real good season again. Hope you can get in those playoffs, then who knows?
Up the Port and the Swans!

Thank you for a most welcome post, it is nice to read an intelligent and thought provoking comment from another area that is interesting to all ages, I'm 71 and as in life opinions have a different meaning when looked at from anothers viewpoint, and I for one welcome people like that writer who posted his thoughts and who had'nt been aware that Newport County were a former league club, but who appreciated what it means to us to drive the County on to promotion, I hope that he does get to Spytty Park and joins us on that day when hopefully its confirmed that we're "UP"

Tell 'em whee you were born Jack .................they'll love it

And , anyone seen the Argus website ? A Championship player at Rougemont school ?
How many appearances has he made in the championship for his team (May have made a few for you Jack) ....................... Surely our County could have provided a bigger name ?

Hi Swansea Jack,

Good post mate  Some good points you raise there.

I agree with you there is a generation thing. Im in my 40's now and just want this club back in the football league proper. indeed,It is exciting times! We do indeed seem to have good support from Swansea City FC which is great.

Swansea are one of those clubs im starting to look out for (results) and always wish you well against another Welsh club!!

All the best
